New Business:
The meeting began with Father Steve making the announcement that Parish Council is going to be changed. It will be going through a re-visioning process. He feels that the present system has been ineffective which led him to make this change. Under the new council system, there will be no elections, no parliamentary procedures, no committees, and a one-year commitment instead of the three years in the past. There will also be a "discernment" of the people being considered for the assignment. People who are considering serving will be ask to pray to see if they are called to serve God in this way.
Father also said that other parishes have gone to this new process.
In other business, Jim Herrick said that the Fish Fries will begin the Friday before Ash Wednesday this year and that there will be no Fish Fry on Good Friday.
Old Business:
An update on the pads on the pew seats. Father has the money to do the seats. It is also being considered that pads be put on the backs of the pews. It was suggested that he go ahead and get the seats done and worry about the backs if he receives the remainder of the money.
Financially, Father said that $20,000.00 was put in the bank. There has also been a decrease in the heating and electric bills.
Jim also mentioned the Altar Server situation and commented that it seemed to be better. He also stated that Altar servers who can not show up on their given day should try to get a substitute.
Members in attendance were: Father Steve, Jim Herrick, Lou Finley, Becky Goddard, Matt Herrick, and Debbie Sims.
The next meeting will be scheduled by Father Steve. Minutes taken by Debbie Sims
